It was when I started blogging, going through the net searching for inspiring quotes to share and receiving comments telling me how much they are loving this beautiful soul, that I finally started noticing her – Maya Angelou.

Angelou died on the morning of May 28, 2014 and during her memorial service, her son, Guy Johnson stated, “She left this mortal plane with no loss of acuity and no loss in comprehension”.

Despite being in constant pain due to her dancing career and respiratory failure, she wrote four books during the last ten years of her life.

To be frank, I’ve not seen any of her performances nor read any of her written works and I didn’t even know about Maya Angelou until two years ago.

So, am I being very hypocritical to draft this tribute post just for the sake of posting?

Perhaps I am.

The reason why I am still doing so is because I feel thankful to be able to come across some beautiful and enlightening words by her in which I’ve shared in one of my previous posts — I’VE LEARNED THAT — and sometimes, it only takes something as little as a few words to make a difference in our lives.

You rose into my life

Like a promised sunrise

Brightening my days

With the light in your eyes.

I’ve never been so strong.

Now I’m where I belong.

(Maya Angelou)

Dear Maya Angelou

Now you‘re where you belong

The words that you’ve left behind will continue to shine on

Just like many promised sunrises

Ensuring us that our nights won’t be too long

Thank you so much for your wisdom

Have a wonderful day ahead, always!

Till then,

Cheers & TTFN ~ 😀
