Richard “Dick” Smith, a native of Honesdale, Pennsylvania, was reportedly inspired to write the song, “Winter Wonderland” after seeing Honesdale’s Central Park covered in snow.

The song was recorded in 1934 by Guy Lombardo and His Royal Canadians. Later, Perry Como and The Andrews Sisters also made recordings of this song making it more popular.

The original bridge, about a couple who make a spur-of-the-moment decision to get married, was supposedly considered inappropriate for children. A replacement version was made in 1953, which is the one that we are listening to today.

Silent Night” (German: Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht) is a popular Christmas carol, composed in 1818 by Franz Xaver Gruber to lyrics by Joseph Mohr in the small town of Oberndorf bei Salzburg, Austria.

The song was first performed on Christmas Eve 1818 at St Nicholas parish church in Oberndorf, a village on the Salzach river.

The song was sung simultaneously in French, English and German by troops during the Christmas truce of 1914 during World War I, as it was one carol that soldiers on both sides of the front line knew.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is a fictional male reindeer with a glowing red nose, popularly known as “Santa’s 9th Reindeer.”

Robert L. May created Rudolph in 1939 as an assignment for Montgomery Ward. May’s brother-in-law, Johnny Marks, adapted the story of Rudolph into a song.

Rudolph’s first screen appearance came in 1944, in the form of a cartoon short produced by Max Fleischer for the Jam Handy Corporation, that was more faithful to May’s original story than Marks’ song (which had not then yet been written).

All I Want for Christmas Is You” is a song originally performed by American singer-songwriter Mariah Carey.

Its lyrics declare that the singer does not care about Christmas presents or lights; all she wants for Christmas is to spend time with her lover. Ostensibly, the song was inspired by Carey’s romantic sentiments toward her then-husband Tommy Mottola.

In 2010, Rolling Stone ranked “All I Want for Christmas Is You” fourth on its Greatest Rock and Roll Christmas Songs list, calling it a “holiday standard.”

Yesterday, I’ve stumbled upon  a post whereby this lovely soul has mentioned the word ‘SHARE‘ being the most annoying English word. I was perplexed when I saw the word and later fully understood those disappointments this lovely soul must have had felt as I read on.

“If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.”
~ Mother Teresa

Perhaps those people whom this lovely soul had associated with were simply abusing the word ‘SHARE’ for their own benefits just because they have forgotten that people do in fact, belong to each other – directly or indirectly.

Love only grows by sharing.

You can only have more for yourself by giving it away to others.

~ Brian Tracy

Of course, we cannot deny the fact that those people do exist around us but I sincerely hope that in the days ahead, this lovely soul would meet more lovely souls who do SHARE with their hearts and souls.

Hope is tomorrow’s veneer over today’s disappointment.

Hopefully one day I might stumble upon a post about ‘SHARE’ being the most beautiful English word by the same lovely soul.

“Merry Christmas Everybody” by Slade is the favourite Christmas song shared by this lovely soul, Ute @ Utesmile.

A big THANK YOU to Ute for sharing her favourite Christmas song with us!

What is your favourite Christmas song?
